Measuring the State of Disaster Philanthropy: Data to Drive Decisions

At below-average frequency, disasters resulted in over 7,800 fatalities, affected 140.8 million people, and caused $99.2 billion in damages in 2014. Yet disaster giving only generated $22.5 billion, and most went to Ebola. So how can we mitigate the impact of disasters and build more resilient communities?

To help funders address this question, Foundation Center and the Center for Disaster Philanthropy released the updated Measuring the State of Disaster Philanthropy: Data to Drive Decisions report, online dashboard, and interactive funding map. Click here to explore the data and key findings to determine when and how to respond to disasters.
